At a time when grassroots organizing is essential, this workshop focuses on harnessing existing branding—logos, slogans, and visuals—to connect clearly with communities and expand our reach. Participants will learn how to organize digital assets, create replicable campaign toolkits for social media and print, and streamline rapid response efforts with ready-to-use templates for updates and threads.

Deportation Defense

With the looming threat of mass deportations from the new administration, this workshop will explore lessons from the Not1More Deportation Campaign and local anti-deportation efforts. Participants will hear about lessons learned from taking on deportation cases, mobilizing community support, and disrupting deportation pipelines.

Afro-Caribbean Solidarity and Resistance

Facilitated by Ruth Pion, founder of AfrohistoriaRD and co-founder of the afrofeminist collective Junta de Prietas, and Alicia Méndez Medina, an antiracist activist, actress, and member of Junta de Prietas and the poetry collective Malapalabra, this session explores the deep histories and ongoing struggles of Afro-Caribbean, Dominican, and Haitian-descendant communities. Rooted in solidarity and mutual cooperation, participants will engage in conversations of transnational connections of Afro-Caribbean resistance, decolonial approaches to history, and strategies to combat systems of oppression.

Since 2018, Ivanna leads UpTogether’s work in the Southwest region and builds and manages a portfolio of partnerships with government and philanthropy to expand direct investment to individuals across the country.

    Jessica has 10+ years of leadership experience in government and local and national nonprofits. During her time as Chief of Staff for the 35th Ward, Jessica helped direct legislative priorities and people-powered initiatives across the city for 35th Ward Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa, such as the passage of the Bodily Autonomy Sanctuary City Ordinance, which protects the right to abortion and gender-affirming care in Chicago. In her current role with the Committee on Zoning, Jessica helped win the expansion of the Northwest Side Housing Preservation ordinance, which will preserve naturally occurring affordable housing across the Northwest Side.

Julia has championed initiatives focused on affordable housing and education, working to address systemic issues affecting marginalized communities. Mejia's accomplishments also include successfully pushing for reforms in public safety and community engagement, reflecting her commitment to fostering a more just and equitable city.

Under her leadership, SSFTX has advanced access to healthcare and education for undocumented communities while advocating for compassionate and equitable immigration and health policies.

    Strategic Actions for a Just Economy (SAJE)

    I do tenant rights work in both LA City and LA County. I helped co-lead the Tenant Anti Harassment Ordinance (TAHO) campaign to pass the strongest TAHO law in LA City. I run tenant rights clinics to help tenants with landlord harassment, eviction and eviction notices, and lack of repairs. I love running, cats, dancing, hiking, nature, astrology, tarot cards, and all queer and intuitive things.
